Dear Friends,
In order to mobilize the United Nations(UN), and urge the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to take action in response to the recent police violence and human rights violations in Turkey, we need to send mass e-mails to the UN.
For this petition, we need to write e-mails that contain evidence for police violence such as photographs, videos, and weblinks to different visual media. These e-mails can be sent by individuals (such as“Diren Gezi”) or on behalf of an institution (such as Turkish Bars Association).
The following information must be provided in the e-mails:
-Identification of the alleged victim(s);
-Identification of the alleged perpetrators of the violation (if known) (Please provide substantiated information on all the actors involved, including non-state actors if relevant);
-Identification of the person(s) or organization(s) submitting the communication (this information will be kept confidential);
-Date,place and detailed description of the circumstances of the incident(s) or violation. (The information submitted can refer to violations that are said to have already occurred, that are ongoing or about to occur.)
It is crucial for the success of our petition that we attach to these e-mails the PHOTOGRAPHS and VIDEOS, or WEBLINKS that that will serve as EVIDENCE.
E-mails can be sent to ALL of the following e-mail addresses:
malcorra@un.org, ponos@un.org, infodesk@ohchr.org, wgad@ohchr.org, freeassembly@ohchr.org, freedex@ohchr.org, sr-torture@ohchr.org

Those friends who may have difficulty with English may use the following letter as a template.
Let’s title our e-mails as “Recent Nationwide Police Violence in Turkey.”
LETTER TEMPLATE:
Mr. Secretary General,
On May 28, 2013 a group of activists gathered at Gezi Park in Taksim, Istanbul, Turkey, to peacefully demonstrate in reaction to the municipal plan to demolish the park. The Turkish police has repeatedly intervened demonstrators since the beginning, and since May 31st, it has also started using excessive violence against peaceful demonstrators, including heavy beating, and use of teargas.
Following the excessive reaction of the police, since May 31st, hundreds of thousands of people across the country has gathered in support of the protesters. These demonstrations have since turned into a nation-wide protest against government’s policies that restrict basic civil rights.
Despite the continued peaceful nature of the demonstrations, the Turkish police has continued to step up its unjustifiable violence, with increased use of rubber bullets and teargas, including the throwing of gas canisters into houses, shopping malls, and even mosques. Maltreatment has caused serious injuries, some leading to alleged deaths. Massive detentions still continue and there are worrisome reports of alleged tortures. The unfortunate series of events and human rights violations in Turkey have received massive international media coverage and public attention, as you might already be aware of.
Please find in the attachment some videos and photographs that document the police violence against peaceful demonstrators in Turkey.
(Alternatively, the following information can be provided.)
Please also find below the links to the visuals that demonstrate human rights violations.

I kindly request your urgent attention and action to the ongoing police violence against people in Turkey.
Kind regards,
